In honor of the very generous man who was the 2008 primary donor for our Petrof grand piano at Kapi’olani Community College, I am initiating a concert series named after him: the B. Young Concert Series.  These concerts will highlight the quality of our music program at KCC, feature guest performers, develop music appreciation at our college, and serve as fundraisers for our music discipline.

The inaugural concert of the series will take place on Monday, April 20, 2009, at 4:45pm in Olona 109.  The highlighted performer will be Ayano Saito, an international student from Tokyo, Japan.  She will be performing Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Piano Concerto, Op. 18: Allegro scherzando, and I will be accompanying her on the second piano orchestral part.
